After about 14 years, I got a chance to revisit Ireland, thanks to my wife. We set out from Athlone for a scenic 300km drive, towards Galway and then detouring to Clifden. Coming from India I felt a bit uneasy behind the wheel with the discipled Ireland traffic initially. But very soon I was back in the groove. Our first stop was at the charming Oughterard Shrubbery.

We further drove towards Pines Island Viewpoint, Athry. Then we passed Kylemore Abbey & Aasleagh Falls & faced our first Irish rain at the falls.

From there instead of the main road we took a deviation and picked up a narrow country road. It was so greenish everywhere.

By evening, we reached Achill Island and started looking for a B&B as the first thing. Unfortunately, a marathon the next day had left most of the places fully booked. After a bit of searching, we finally secured a room. The weather was pleasantly mild, so we headed towards Keem beach which is towards the other end of the island.

Keem beach is one of the beautiful beaches I have seen. Last time it was very cloudy and windy so I couldn’t capture a good shot of it. But this time the Irish luck favoured me and got some wonderful photos.

By the time we are back at the B&B it started raining again.
