Wayanad

Yet another Wayanad trip in bike. Me and my colleague Ritesh (who just decided to join me last minute) started from Banglore in two bikes on Saturday morning 5.30AM, took Kanakpura road and then reached Wayanad after crossing my favourite Bandipur forest. As usual it was filled with lot of greenery and oxygen. My dearest friend Mrudul was eagerly waiting there in Pulaplly for hosting us 🙂 We went straight to his “Tharavad” home stay, in the middle of a beautiful coffee plantation, to have some tasty lunch.

Roamed around his place that evening. Ended the day with some grilled pork and long talks. Though it was July, the rain was very moderate. What happened to Kerala monsoon?

Sunday morning after breakfast we headed towards 900 kandi. I was facinated by the recent hype about this place. But unfortunately it was very crowded and raining. We will have to travel in a 4×4 Jeep for about 8KM to reach there from the main road and then there was some Forest guard regulations too. So we cancelled the plan.

After having lunch from Malayalam Film actor Abu Salim’s 1980’s restaurant we headed towards Chekadi – the rice bowl of Wayanad. It’s a border village to Karanakata, separated by Kabini river. We went further crossing the river, reaching the remote village Bavali and then drove towards Nagarhole Tiger reserve. It was a great experience.

See the old picture of the same coconut tree here, it was captured during my 2014 visit for Mrudul’s marriage.

Monday morning we started our return journey to Banglore and fortunate to get this beautiful composition at Gudulpet. Click here for the full resolution picture for your desktop wallpaper.
